New Frank Kent Buick, GMC Dealership Opens, Built With Speed Fab-Crete Precast Concrete Walls—Again
It's not the first time Frank Kent Motor Company chose Speed Fab-Crete to design-build a new facility. The latest store, built with Speed Fab-Crete's plant-made concrete wall panel building system, opened in 2008 at 3535 W. Loop 820 South in Fort Worth, Texas.
The 15,452-square-foot facility incorporates the latest Buick and GMC "national branding" by architectural design and use of the automakers' logo themes. Designed by Callahan & Freeman Architects, the building contains a spacious 3,600-square-foot showroom, a drive-thru, three-work bay service department, sales offices and a customer lounge with children's play area.
Speed Fab-Crete has produced its trademark concrete wall building system for 60 years. The company's manufacturing facilities in Fort Worth are a certified plant by the Architectural Precast Association. This means Speed Fab-Crete produces architectural precast concrete walls of the association's highest standards while faithfully reflecting plans by the architect. While concrete wall sections are made at the plant, site preparation for the building, and its foundation, occur simultaneously. This accelerates the construction process and ensures faster occupancy.
When building components are joined in Speed Fab-Crete's total precast concrete system, construction time is reduced, the quality and durability of the structure are improved and there is long-term value, including less fire and storm insurance costs.
Design-build has become an increasingly popular method by which architectural, engineering and construction services are performed under a single contract with the owner.
In 2010, the building was sold to Randy Hiley Buick-GMC. Hiley also opened a new adjacent Subaru franchise in Kent's former Hummer facility, built by Speed Fab-Crete.

Prominent North Texas car dealer Tom Durant, owner of Classic Chevrolet, has opened Classic Hummer, not far from his other dealership complex. Speed Fab-Crete built the facility in only nine months.
The 58,000-square foot complex will center on a showroom composed of exposed steel, concrete and glass for a rugged industrial and high-tech appearance.
"For 18 years now, Speed Fab-Crete has been our preferred builder of choice. They ARE like an extension of our staff."

Classic Chevrolet and GMC Dealerships In Arlington, Grapevine And Granbury Underwent Major Remodeling By Speed Fab-Crete

Owner Tom Durant's Classic Chevrolet and GMC dealerships in Arlington, Grapevine and Granbury, Texas underwent major remodeling by Speed Fab-Crete to meet new national branding requirements in 2009 by the automaker.
Durant selected Speed Fab-Crete as design-build general contractor for the extreme makeovers required by Chevrolet at his existing dealerships. Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, built by Speed Fab-Crete 18 years ago, has been the number one selling Chevrolet dealer in America for four consecutive years.
A primary makeover of the appearance of the dealerships was installation of a new showroom entry feature called a proscenium. Interior retail image changes were made to the reception area, customer waiting, business center and service reception. Other changes included new floor-wall finishes and showroom furniture, all part of an updated brand focusing by Chevrolet.
Speed Fab-Crete built Durant's Grapevine dealership in 1991 and has been his design-build contractor of choice for several other projects since.
